Wedding season has officially begun. We had two showers in May, two weddings in June and celebrated our first year anniversary. In honor of all of this wedded bliss, I’m going to start a new Matrimonial Monday segment (Wedding Wednesdays is already being used by like a dozen blogs) to highlight all the fun and brag on my cute and creative friends. Here are a few highlights from my sister’s best friend’s recent pre-wedding and wedding festivities:
My sweet mom threw a bridal shower at her house. She borrowed an awesome and huge wrought iron centerpiece from our family friend, Rechea. I am now insisting that we invest in one of our own ASAP. We picked up some beautiful purple hydrangeas from Central Market for the guest and gift tables. The couple got some great gifts mostly from the two local gift stores in Nocona, Dolly’s and Davis Jewelry (which are both totally worth a stop if you’re ever on Highway 82). And…my favorite part of the shower were the hostess gifts – Judy gave them all beautiful hanging planters…genius hostess gift for a Spring shower.
My sister co-hosted a bachelorette weekend in Austin. The weekend included vino at Uncorked, an awesome meal at Oasis (one of my favorites) and two nights out on Sixth Street including the great live music venue, Maggie Maes.
The wedding reception was at brand new event hall built to accompany the new hotel, The Veranda Inn. Nocona doesn’t get new hotels or party venues very often (like about once every 10-20 years) so it is a big deal. I was anxious to see it and really impressed with what they had done with the place. Its rustic, open and has a great big bar. Nocona is lucky to have it. Judy’s dress was beautiful and it was nice to be able to catch up with people we hadn’t seen in a while.
